Believe me, friend There is a God. God is the fulfillment of every ideal, the completion of every task. Omnipotent, omniscient, God is the alpha and the omega. Through Him were all things created, without him nothing was or shall ever be. God encompasses His entire creation, always moving but never moved. He is the light in the darkness. The mystery of shadow shrinks from His presence. Those who know the One True God know the way of salvation. The correct paths of right are laid down in scripture. Furthermore, God gave us a reasoning mind to discern right from wrong. Those who believe that reason can be used to disprove God’s existence have been led astray. Their view is distracted from the right way, and they become lost. They believe in their own wisdom, not realizing that without God, their logic is reduced to rhetoric. Words can twist our view of reality in any way we wish. Once one realizes that his complete explanation is just another metaphor for the phenomena at hand, he will become lost with the sheer futility of it all. That is why God must exist. Otherwise all our efforts, all our ideals, our goals, our dreams, are meaningless. Even if we discount the whole afterlife, which some religions don’t believe in anyway. God gives meaning to our actions, and reason for our existence. As individuals, we have little to rely on but our own feelings. We may claim to be steered by reason. However, anyone who has examined his own reasoning and makes a change does so because he felt there was something wrong with it. Thus while feelings may not directly dictate our “reasonable” behavior, the reason itself is dictated by our feelings. We know well the unpredictability of feeling, how the same things can make us happy one minute and sad the next. Thus as individuals we are incapable of making consistent, sound decisions. Society may provide a functional model of how to go through life, but society is still comprised of those same incomplete individuals, lost and pretending they know why they do what they do. Jesus said such people are like a man who builds his house upon the sand. The sand shifts and the house collapses. God provides the rock, the foundation, something real, soemthing true, on which to build our world. In times of turmoil, sadness, confusion, and alienation God gives certainty, a sure path that provides those who follow it with a meaningful existence.
